PATRICK

So I find my self having a grand old time shooting kids these past few weeks. I find it ironic that I get new studio lighting and have thoughts of grandeur. You know,"I going to be a fashion photographer". What  I ended up with was  a bunch of kids. Don't get me wrong, I've never had so much fun photographing kids. I fact I can't wait till the next one. I guess this also proves that if you put a camera in the hands of a photographer that he/she will just simply explode unless they get to shoot something.
I digress. This is about Patrick and what a awesome visit we had. He was fun to watch and photograph. I hope his parents will bring him back when he turns one. Hint, hint.

BABY "B"

I can't get enough of this cutie this year. I have been following her since her newborn session back in June. This time, for the first time, she came to the studio and what a blast we had. Well, I know I did and I think she did. Can't talk yet ya' know. As you can tell by the first few that this was also her first Easter (the eggs are a give away). I loved these so much I couldn't wait to get them up.

SPRING AT 1.2

So most of you might be asking your self what spring at 1.2 means. A few years ago I had to replace my 50mm lens. Now there are several types of them all varying in their largest lens opening, the bigger the opening the more light that can come in. Now a saine person would have replaced their lens with a new version of the same lens but that's no fun. I decided that I had to replace a $400ish dollar lens for the $1400ish dollar lens. Makes sense, right? Well when you have such a lens you want to use the uniqueness of the lens to justify it. Think of it as a pair of shoes you wanted that you had only one need of but you wore them with every thing to justify the purchase. So now back to the 1.2. The 50mm lens in question has a maximum f-stop of 1.2 (that means BIG opening). The two images below were taken at 1.2 which as you can see doesn't give you a whole lot in focus. And for all of you real techies out there thinking that I got a Canon 50mm 1.2 to focus closer than usual, your right. I had some help with a 12mm tube(look it up. I've bored you enough with tech talk).
After all of that, please enjoy a couple of flowers in my yard. I hope to shot more this weekend so keep an eye out.

MCGEE MIDDLE SCHOOL DRAMA CLUB 2012

I'm happy to say that I've been very busy but that means I've neglected my Blog. Sorry to all of you but I'm back.
This is McGee Middle School Drama Clubs 2012 musical cast poster. I can't tell you how awesome it is to work with them, all 70+ students. This was the 3rd year I got to help them with their fund raiser and I can't thank all those who purchased a poster or one of the individual cast images. With how tight school budgets are we all need to find a way to support the arts in our schools.
Thanks again.

WADSWORTH MANSION

It's kinda fun to play at what you do. I love playing but hate to do it on clients events. This Sunday I got to play. My in-laws own a florist, which if you've been to the studio you knew that already since I'm on the 2nd floor of it, and they did a beautiful center piece for the Friends Tea at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown. So Kari and I delivered the flowers and took some images for my in-laws as well as for the table sponsor for the event.
These were shot with off camera flash. Kari held the flash with a radio trigger so that I could get more dramatic lighting. I know there is no before and after shots but believe me there was a big difference. I just love these.

KRISTA & ANDREWS ENGAGEMENT

This should keep all of you busy. I had such a hard time pairing the images down. I try for 5 to 10 but I ended up with 24 and it's still just a sample. Simple put I went over board.
Krista and Andrew were awesome. They really were great about putting up with me. This was also the engagement session that didn't want to be. Three postponements but we finally got there. We ventured down to Mystic and started with the traditional feeding of the ducks (see I just made several of you nerves thinking that all my couples feed ducks. Hehe). After that we moved to down town where we covered as much as possible. That's when they had to put up with me. Just wish It had been a bit warmer. The only regret was not getting to the winery (that may not have been open anyway). Don't despair, I told them that we would get there on another day.

Oh, and please ck out the most fun ring shot ever at the bottom of the post!    Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

THE LAST TWO FRAMES

I had an idea yesterday. I was going to go out to do a little street photography and get a bit to eat with a friend who was in town. So I loaded up and moved out. We went to New Haven and to my disappointment it just didn't click. I got more architecture images than anything else but not all was lost. The images before you are the last two frames of the day. First you'll see the world famous Louis' Lunch cheese burger and my Foxon Park birch beer (love that stuff). This was my first time at Louis' Lunch and it was great, even with the long wait. So after a great lunch we jumped in the car and I saw this average seen of a person eating in BAR (another New Haven icon) with all the reflections on the windows. I rolled down my window set up the shot then out of the corner of my eye I saw this guy coming closer and figured I'd wait to have him in the shot. I lucked out. Why, when someone goes in front of a camera do they crouch and make silly faces? I don't know but a thank you goes out to him. It made the image.
